Most people characterise Yorkshire with images of the Yorkshire Dales and some of the most fantastic countryside the UK has to offer. Dotted in among those flowing hills are picturesque villages where you can stop off from walks to take in a cup of tea and a cake at local tea shops, or just wander the quiet streets that connect them to the hectic outside world.
But Yorkshire isn’t just about the hills and the countryside. It also offers some wonderful coastal towns and endless beaches. Towns like Bridlington and Whitby attract visitors year round to saunter along their stretches of beach; you just need a few extra layers sometimes!
Then there are Yorkshire’s wonderful, cosmopolitan cities, namely York and Leeds. York is famed for its beautiful architecture, winding alleys and towering Minster and truly is a unique city. Leeds brings to Yorkshire its taste of modernity, with shopping, restaurants and nightlife to match any UK city.

Spacious, attractive, well equipped house. Great to have a games room and hot tub (even over Christmas).
Beds very comfy. Plenty of hot water.
Lynda and Tony were extremely helpful and fast to respond to any queries.
The kitchen had everything we needed to cater for 12.
The house had 2 Christmas trees which was very much appreciated.
We had a long weekend away at Foldyard House with family and friends staying over the August bank holiday weekend. The cottage itself is beautiful and looks to have been tastefully restored and extended - its huge! It has great facilities (really good parking, seriously impressive kitchen, dining and lounge areas) with the bonus of a well maintained hot tub, sauna and pool table. What sets this place apart though is the location - with a bit of research (there is a good welcome book actually which contains a lot of this), the house is around 20 mins from Bridlington which given the weather we had, has lovely beaches and quite a lively seaside town (recommend busy bees for fish and chips). We also went to the beach at Hornsea - not as accessible perhaps (with a pram) - but still really enjoyable - especially as we ventured to the Marina. Finally, if you want to do a spot of shopping, there is a nice market town called Beverly which is a lovely place to walk around and enjoy the sights. We had great weather so we were out and about a lot and Foldyard house was a perfect base to come back, feed the family and have a relaxing night in (including a bottle of fizz under the stars in the hot tub - a rare and fantastic treat). If you're looking for somewhere where you can house a big family get together/ get away, this place is definitely worth a look and we'll be looking at booking this place again!
We had an amazing time at Foldyard house! The place was so clean, and so well equipped for a large group. We loved the hot tub and sauna, sitting down for a meal at the huge dining table and relaxing in the equally large lounge.
Excellent property, well appointed and in a great location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, set up as asked and we had everything we needed on hand.
Had an absolutely fantastic stay in FoldYard Cottage. Amazing venue, clean and comfortable with a well equip kitchen. Great location and easy find with the directions provided.
The house itself is in great condition and all our friends and family were stunned.
Great addition with the hot tub and sauna and the weather was very kind to us so we were able to enjoy these facilities.
Made many great memories staying here x
Great accommodation for a family gathering, with enough space for all to enjoy inside and outside. House was really clean with only a couple of sticky patches on doors. The house is located in a really quiet private area so you feel youre in your own space. Would need Car to get about to other local amenities as not many taxi options who were available for large groups. Only downside was the number of flies or wasps coming in to the house due to the weather, which the property owner or caretaker cant do anything about. But a slight annoyance.
Could do with a 2nd dishwasher, due to size of property and number of people staying would just help the clean up after meals.
However, property is excellent and would recommend to anyone thinking about staying.
