We are rather keen on good food and wine here at House Parties so we thought a guide to food festivals around the UK for the next 12 months might be a good idea.
The York Chocolate Festival has yet to confirm dates for 2018 but last year it was held around Easter. The festival spans 4 days and there are workshops to create your own Easter egg or making chocolate desserts. There are coffee and chocolate tastings or you can just visit the chocolate market where you can buy chocolates made from local artisan producers. York Chocolate Festival
The Great Yorkshire Show is a family favourite, 2018 dates are 10th -12 July. There is so much going on, there is just too much for us to list so check out the site for all the events Great Yorkshire Show
The Loch Fynn Food Festival is not far from three of our houses, Stuckgowan, HighWards and Stuckdarach. The festival runs from 17 – 18th May. Located next to the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar, admission is free and the fair offers a feast of west coast food and wine as well as entertainment.

The Crail Food Festival in Fife runs in June – Dates TBC for 2018. Participants include the Andross Farm Shop, Barnetts Bakery, who have won the 2012 Scottish Baker of the Year Award, The Coco Tree Café and Chocolate Company in Pittenweem, Days Gone By (homemade jams) as well as The St Andrews Brewing Company.
Crail Food Festival
The Dartmouth Food Festival started in 2002 in the market square and it is now a major food event held every October. The festival offers lots of demonstrations from celebrity chefs including Mitch Tonks and Mark Hill. There are also plenty of wine, beer and cider tastings available.
Workshops include How to Dress a Crab, Cooking a Perfect Steak, Decorating Cupcakes and even Filleting Fish. Special Menus are being offered at many local restaurants and hotels as well as a selection of pop-up restaurants at the festival itself.
Oban hosts a Winter Festival – Dates to be confirmed, usually in late November. The food and drink market is held on Saturday 23rd November and offers a selection of food and drink from local producers, including, confectionery, meat, bread, fish, pies and preserves. There are also cookery demonstrations throughout the day. The festival is just a short distance from Blaven, a lovely family holiday house sleeping up to 13 people or for larger groups, The Drury can sleep 22 guests.
Foodies Festival in Edinburgh – 3rd to 5th August. Foodies Festival is the biggest food festival in the UK and it is returning in 2018 to Inverleith Park. Watch Bake Off winners baking live, Masterchef and Great British Menu winners cooking up their signature dishes in the Stoves Theatre Cafe. The Henley Food Festival – Dates TBC for 2018. Henley is not just about the Regatta, they also host a fabulous food festival, usually in September. There’s array of local producers, purveyors, bakers, brewers and chefs to Henley! With a vibrant variety of food & drink from some of the best restaurants, brewers & producers from The Thames Valley.
