House Parties features stylish, large holiday homes in the U.K. Let us help you find the perfect group accommodation for your break …

Edinburgh has a great nightlife and what better way to start your evening than with a cocktail or two?  We have chosen a selection of cocktail bars, gin bars, wine bars and whiskey bars for you to chose from.

We’ve picked out a few places for you to try.

The Lucky Liquor Co is located in Queen Street. A quirky little bar with black and white floor and pavement tables offers a cocktail menu that changes every 13 weeks.  They take 13 bottles, create 13 cocktails and run them for, you’ve guessed it, 13 weeks.  Cocktails average a very reasonably priced £8.00.  There are some unusual flavours on the menu, the summer menu featured “Cool Ya Jets” a mix of gin, coconut, coconut liquor, cucumber & lime cordial, bitters and garlic soda. Or, how about a Mr. Carter?  Bourbon, peanut butter (we presume smooth not crunchy?), Orange Columbo & Pedro Ximenez sherry.

There is also a selection of wine, beer and champagne or you could just have a straight forward Gin and Tonic if you don’t feel adventurous.

Also in Queen Street is The Bramble Bar & Lounge under the same ownership as The Lucky Liquor Company, here you will find not only an extensive cocktail menu, but over 36 gins from Scotland, England, USA, France, Holland and Menorca. not surprising, the whiskey menu is also fairly extensive.  A cosy, subterranean bar with outdoor seating for the summer months. Try the house cocktail, called “The Bramble”, a mix of dry gin, lemon juice, Creme de Mures and a dash of sugar syrup.

For something a grander scale, head to 99 Hanover Street, after a long day sightseeing or shopping sink into a large leather armchair and enjoy a glass of fizz or a cocktail, don’t want to leave?  99 Hanover Street has entertainment every evening with guest DJ’s so you can boogy the night away. Not as an extensive a menu as the first two choices and with only a choice of 3 reds, 3 whites and 1 rose, not a place for the discerning wine lover, but if it’s fun and entertainment you want, this is the place for you.

Love Gin?  Then head to Heads & Tales they love gin so much they have two of their own gin stills, Flora and Caledonia and produce their own in house gin – Edinburgh Gin.  How about a gin masterclass? Available from Tuesday to Sunday at 5pm, 6pm or 7 pm (you do need to book in advance).  £25.00 per person, gets you 4 gin samplers and your choice of a full size G&T to finish plus an in-depth knowledge on gin!  You may need to visit more than once, we counted 80 gins on the menu, plus 20 cocktails, as well as beer, wine and other spirits.  They also offer a selection of boards to snack on, choose from a fish board with smoked salmon and tuna tartare, a whole baked camembert, a more traditional charcuterie board as well as a vegetarian option.

Looking for something unusual?  Try Panda & Sons, this speakeasy bar can be found underneath what looks like a barbershop.  Make your way down the stairs and find the illusive door handle (disguised as a book) hidden in the fake bookcase.  Once inside this vintage style bar you  can choose from an extensive menu, spilt up into chapters.  Chapter One, Meet the Family – classic cocktails including one called Red Panda.  Chapter Two, cocktails with a little more theatre!. Chapter 3 includes a cocktail for 4, served in a hat! Chapter 4 is for those who like their cocktails on the rocks. Chapter 5 – for lovely people that don’t want ice in their drinks and lastly Chapter 6 has cocktails for people “that want something in between a spirit and mixer and a cocktail”.  They don’t accept stag or hen parties. Open until late.

Whiskey lovers should head for the newly renovated Kaledeidoscope Bar at The Scotch Malt Whiskey Society.  With views over the Firth of Forth, sit back and chose from over 200 whiskies.  The menu is divided by flavour profiles as opposed to a region or a distillery, so if you are a whiskey novice, this should make choosing your dram much easier.  They offer whiskey tastings, whiskey flight or whiskey and food flights.
